Raised in urban Hong Kong, songwriter, singer, and photographer julian. (Julian Tong) was born in 2002 to Taiwanese/Hong Kong parents. He lived between Hong Kong and Taipei as a child, listening to a mixture of Mandopop, Cantopop, and R&B; his father's guilty pleasures...to then listening to his primary school teacher's obsession with Guns & Roses, as well as heavy metal.
In high school, he often was in the spotlight Due to his ability to play the piano and guitar; he began learning piano as a child and on his own as a teenager. he performed in inter-house events, and school music competitions, as well as forming a small cover band at the time known as “Bluezy”, which played Phum Viphurit, The Eagles, John Mayer, and other alternative-indie rock bands that were based in the us, Southeast Asia and UK.
Julian produced and mixed a variety of acoustic covers, refining his craft and extending the ceiling. After graduation, he moved to Leeds to study photography at Leeds Arts University and continued to pursue songwriting and storytelling, teaming up with talented producer and close friend LCDWVES (Ambrose Yan).
With a blended fresh production by LCDWVES, the origins of his style formed. Intricate, organic, and luscious melodies inspired by the likes of hyper pop, hip hop, and indie rock, as well as artists such aS JOJI anD POST MALONE gathered attraction from a selection of major Spotify playlists Spotify's New Artist Friday, the Hong Kong music scene and shoutouts from BBC Music Introducing in West Yorkshire and beyond.
